Temple Israel partners with several charities serving the Kanawha Valley. We are founding members of

  • The Religious Coalition for Community Renewal (RCCR, for short), which develops projects and programs which help renew our community by identifying, addressing, and overcoming obstacles which keep people from decent, affordable housing.
  • Covenant House, which helps people with the fewest resources meet their basic needs: food, clothing, and shelter.
  • Manna Meal, which serves two meals a day (breakfast & lunch), 365 days a year, to individuals and families that include the homeless, mentally challenged, and under-employed workers, as well as people who simply cannot make ends meet.

The Temple Israel Social Action Committee also supports the Charleston Family Resource Center (formerly the East End Family Resource Center), Rainbow Pride of WV, Rebuilding Charleston, the Shepherd Center, and the West Virginia Environmental Council.

Temple Israel Sisterhood supports the YWCA of Charleston’s Sojourner’s Shelter for Women and Families.

Temple Israel is a member of Kanawha Valley Interfaith Council.
