Healing Justice Screening and Conversation Set for Thursday, July 19 at Temple Israel 6 – 8:30 PM
West Virginia Center on Budget and Policy, Call to Action for Racial Equality: CARE Coalition and American Friends Service Committee WV invite community members to a free film screening and discussion of Healing Justice, the latest documentary from Cracking the Code creator Shakti Butler.
Healing Justice “explores the causes and consequences of the current American justice system and its effect on marginalized communities. This powerful documentary addresses the school-to-prison pipeline, the need for comprehensive criminal justice reform, and the importance of healing and restorative practices.”
Following the film, a discussion about the potential for restorative justice initiatives in West Virginia will be led by Reverend Ron English.
Panelists include:

• Commissioner David Kladney, US Commission on Civil Rights
• Rico Moore, local criminal defense attorney
